Final Essay
Some of the highlights to my project was I read one of the best books ever by Cesar Milan. Cesar's Way was a very inspiring book that made me realize dogs were very special animals. I went and sat in on one of Petsmart's dog trainig classes and in was very interesting because the instructor said pretty much the exact same thing that was in Cesar's book. The most interesting thing I learned was that dogs can sense energy. Cesar said it was a dog's sixth sense
What I learned is that you have to be calm and assertive. Also always be consistent and never punish a dog, but reward them for what they do right. I really liked the project I thought it was unique and I have never done anything like it. My topic was great because I love dogs and I have always had one. I never knew any of the information i discovered prior to researching my topic.
If i could have done one thing differently I would not have procrastinated so much. I usually did my blogs on Thursday night. I really wish I could have contacted Cesar Millan and asked him exactly what he meant about dogs can sense energy. But as usual I waited way too long and luckily could drop in on a class at Petsmart.

Interview
I went to Petsmart and interview one of their dog trainers. They offer classes to train stubborn dogs like mine. Trainer just kept telling me everything I have learned from Cesar and all the other dog articles I have read. I think that Petsmart has a very good dog training program just from the introduction to the program they gave me.
I think that the interview completed my research for the best way to train dogs. i learned that the best way is not to yell and punish the dog. The correct way to do it is to be calm and praise the good things to dogs do. Also, always remember to be consistent. I really enjoyed my overall experience of being at Petsmart because i love being around animals in general

Cesar's Way by Cesar Millan was a very inspiring book because he tells his life story and where he came from and all he had to do to become successful. He grew up Culiacan, Mexico. He lived on a ranch with his family and did not have very much money. Cesar talks about he came from nothing and illegally entered the United States to start his new life. He started out small being a pet groomer and then started working at a kennel helping to train dogs. It was when people saw him handle dogs that no one would go near that people saw his potential. Two little old ladies funded his first dog training business, The Pacific Point K-9 Academy. Cesar even tells us he can't remember their names. He tells you all his tips throughout the book about being assertive and not agressive. Cesar says the best way to talk to a dog is through your energy. Cesar states,"The energy they [dogs] are projecting tells them everything the need to know" (Millan 62). Dogs can sense good or bad energy in humans. He pretty much just says be the boss and the dominant one with out being overly agressive.
Overall the book was great. I loved how Cesar told us about his past and where he came from. He also gives a great understanding of how to approach and train dogs. It was very risky that he crossed into the United States the way he did. He is very brave for doing that and coming over with nothing but the clothes he had on. He is truly and inspiration.
The only bad thing i didn't like was when he would introduce a new topic mid paragraph and then say I will dicuss this in more detail later on in the book. That is so dumb. If he is going to say something new atleast talk about it for a little while or not say anything at all. Other than that I liked the book.

How to train a job to stop barking
In the video Jim Leske says that it is very bad to pet your dog and reassure it that everything is okay. That only teaches them to keep barking. Jim states thats you should use a no or stop in a stern voice. Another instance is where you come home and your dog is on the door barking. If they bark and you let them out it only trains them to bark to get out of the house. He again says to use a stern no to let them know not to bark.
This video is very educational. I never knew that letting my dog outside for barking at the door would train it to bark to get out. From now on I will use my stern no voice and my dog will not bark when I do not want it to.

Ed Frawley's Philosophy
I completely agree with being consistent and encouraging the good things dogs do. The only problem I have is if you never punish a dog they will never understand what is wrong and what is right. I think a good whooping when they do something bad like use the restroom inside will make them understand that it is unacceptable.
