How to train a job to stop barking

In the video Jim Leske says that it is very bad to pet your dog and reassure it that everything is okay. That only teaches them to keep barking. Jim states thats you should use a no or stop in a stern voice. Another instance is where you come home and your dog is on the door barking. If they bark and you let them out it only trains them to bark to get out of the house. He again says to use a stern no to let them know not to bark.
This video is very educational. I never knew that letting my dog outside for barking at the door would train it to bark to get out. From now on I will use my stern no voice and my dog will not bark when I do not want it to.

Potty Training Basics

In the article Potty Training Basics by Pam Young she starts off by saying all dogs have to use the restroom. The worst part is understanding when and where the dogs need to use the restroom. Dogs have a one track mind that says, "If I have to, then I'll do it" (Young 1). It is up to us to completely train dogs and not up to them to understand what to do. When potty training a dog it consists of four key elements: confinement, training, timing, praise. Confinement is all about taking your dog to the same spot everytime so when you take them out there your dog will know what they are supposed to do. Training is getting the dog used to a leash so when you put it on them they know to use the restroom when you take them to the desired area. Praise is petting the dog and being encouraging the dog when they use the restroom. Timing is all about finding that magical time when your dog likes to use the restroom.

I really think the article should be a little more formal. There are too many all caps words and things that she puts to much emphacise on. I agree with timing and praise but confinment is dumb. I am gonna let my dog use the potty where ever I want. But overall good article
